Nick grew up in a small town in Louisiana, which he remembers only for the cypress trees protruding from tranquil, black bayous, and not the KKK rallies parading through Wal-Mart parking lots. He studied film at the University of New Orleans, before his concentration shifted to writing, and he transferred across town to Loyola University, earning a B.A. in English. At Loyola, he interned with the New Orleans Review, and saturated himself in New Orleans funk grooves, food, and humidity.

Then came a trek across Peru and Mexico, when, during a stay on the desolate islands amid Lake Titicaca, Hurricane Katrina transformed his home in New Orleans into an unrecognizable place.

Nick reluctantly rode Katrina’s waves to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he has settled and resolved himself to leave all of those odd jobs from the past behind. He has worked in a factory breaking down wooden pallets with a crow bar, polished fishing boats for display, shuffled paper in a law firm, answered phones, been a TV cameraman, served coffee, shuffled more paper in another law firm, raised money for far left political issues in the Deep South, answered phones again, and worked as a web designer and copyeditor. He continues to write, study, and fantasize about living in other times and places. Nick's work has appeared in Alchemy Review, Washington Square Review, the Amateur Scientist Podcast, and he is a contributing film reviewer for the International Latino Film Festival in San Francisco. He was recently featured at James Warner's InsideStoryTime reading series.

Nick works freelance as a web designer, copyeditor, & writer. To inquire, or receive a full resume of work experience, contact him with the info below:
